Waterproof Digital Camera

The Pentax Optio WP is a 5 megapix camera that is waterproof up to 5 ft for up to 30 minutes.




It is also fast. Start up is fast and image capture is also fast (.05 second). And it is small and has a 3x optical zoom too. I like it!

I had just one little problem --- well really it was a big bad problem!!! The little door that covers the battery and SD memory card compartment came open in the water. Salt water no less, at Cocoa Beach, Florida. I saved the battery and SD card, but the camera was ruined by corrosion.

There is even a lock on the door which I thought was locked. I don't know if the lock is not very effective, or if the door is too easily opened, but I was not very happy.

However ----- I have just purchased a new one. I will probably safety tape the door when around water, which happens fairly often since we take canoe trips every now and then.

It's less than $300 at newegg.com ---- which has pretty good prices on lots of computer "stuff".
