Glass fiber infused concrete

It has been a while since I have seen anything I thought was neat enough to repeat here on the blog but then I came accros this concrete infused with glass fiber. As you can see from the picture a certain amount of light is transfered throught the material. I also read that it is just as strong as regular concrete which makes it completely amazing.

If you have never heard of aerogel then know this. It is the worlds lightest solid in at only 3 times the weight of air. It is listed in the guinness book of world records for that fact as well as being the best insulator man is aware of and 13 other records. This stuff is apprently difficult to manufacture and is for that reason pretty expensive. I saw a piece measuring 6"x6"x0.5" going for over $4,000 on ebay recently.

Over a year ago I remember adding an entry describing an LCD monitor from Sharp that could show 2 different images on one screen when looked at from different angles. Well here I am again with a screen from Sharp that does 3 in 1.

Here we have the new internet advertising craze known to the world as milliondollarhomepage.com. This is a kid who got the bright idea to start a homepage and sell off a 1 mega pixel portion of space in 100 pixel square blocks at a time to help pay for college. Well apparently he has sold all of the space except for 10 squares that he has listed on ebay. Well it is going for quite a bit more then the $1000 it would have normally gone for. Have a look for yourself.

They finally got it!
There are some pretty advanced dyes that make this possible.

The "two-way viewing-angle LCD" can send light from the backlight separately to the right and left. And so one person can be surfing the Internet, using the display as a PC screen, while another watches a downloaded movie or TV broadcast. It also works for watching two TV channels: one person can watch baseball while another watches a soap opera. TTD Steak Oscar

Last night I did some cooking and came up with what I call the TTD Steak Oscar and for fun I am going to share some photos and the recipe. This is one of the tastiest meals I have ever cooked. You can click on the images for larger pictures.

Ingredients for 2 servings like you see here
1 20oz Top Sirloin Steak cut in half
12-18 Asparagus Spears
10-12oz Imitation Crab Meat
Hollandaise Sauce Mix
1 Cup Milk
4 Tbs or 1/4 Cup or 1/2 Stick Butter
1 tsp Lemon Juice
Water

Get the grill started and heat some water on the stove. Lightly pepper and salt all sides of the 2 steaks. Cut the asparagus into 3 to 4 inch lengths keeping the tops separate. Once the water starts to boil add the asparagus bottoms and throw the steaks on the grill. In 3-4 minutes add the asparagus tops to the boiling water. (This is done because they take less time to cook) Now you can get ingredients together for the sauce. Combine the mix and milk, whisk, start to heat, and add the butter. You should stir the sauce often. Check your steaks. I recommend medium rare for this dish. Once steaks are ready the asparagus should also be ready and the sauce should be boiling. Simmer the sauce for a bit to let it thicken. Place the steaks on the serving plates and top with the cooked asparagus saving the hot water. Now take the crab meat and place into the hot water to get it warm. Stir the sauce and add the lemon juice. Strain the crab meat after having sufficient time to get warm and top the asparagus. Now pour the hollandaise sauce over the steak, asparagus, and crab. Enjoy. I also recommend a nice bottle of Riesling to compliment.

(Note: I used a bamboo steamer in my wok to prepare the asparagus but understand that boiling will be more convenient)
